Goals

Single Sign-On (SSO) is an authentication mechanism that allows users to access several applications with only one set of login credentials.

By enabling SSO for your 360Learning application, you become responsible for the authentication of your users: they get authenticated through your own login portal and do not need an additional set of login / password anymore.

The benefits of using this SSO include:

  • Improved user experience
  • Improved security
  • Seamless navigation

Forced or mixed mode

We offer two connection modes

Forced mode

Your users access 360Learning via your extranet

Forced SSO schema

Mixed mode

Your users access 360Learning either from your extranet or directly

Technologies

360Learning currently supports two SSO implementations: JWT (JSON Web Token) and SAML (Secure Assertion Markup Language). Both JWT and SAML are security token formats that are not dependent on any programming language.

SAML is an older format, based on XML. It is supported by many services and can be easily integrated with you corporate authentication system, for example Windows Active Directory.

JWT is a fairly recent standard based on JSON used in the latest authentication protocols. It offers great flexibility.

Setup your SSO with 360Learning

To enable SSO for your 360Learning space, your account manager will guide you through the entire integration process.

JWT SSO

What you will get from 360Learning:

  • Your company ID
  • A shared secret that will be used to generate tokens and secure communication between your system and the 360Learning platform

You will have to provide:

  • The URL of your login portal, for example https://mycompany.com/sso. Your portal must comply with specific requirements defined in the technical docs
  • Test credentials

SAML SSO

Your account manager will guide you through the entire integration process and give you a federation file required to configure your SSO.

Documentation

Technical guides are available for both technologies to help you integrate SSO:
